It is a hard thing to think that this "Elect" fellow really does have children , and that he passses onto them the marvelously contorted views of the world that are based soley on his infantile obsession with scripture, on a thread not dedicated to religion , but there is very little of true religion in Brian , this we know, or education in any other field of human endeavor it would seem.
That is where a great majority of human woes come from , this passing down to children the ignorance of their fathers. When the idealistic and eternal teachings & truths so simple , that even a child can understand become so twisted and totured in the hands of these kinds of Philistine preachers & Bible~pounders, who know in their hearts they can never feel what a Jesus may have felt in his heart , or what he may have come to know and see concerning love and brotherhood. That is why they rant so loudly , to blanket out the incapicity for compassion , and the din of the tumultuous chaos & void within.
And that is caused by too much hatred and insecurity , not an abundance of love.
The sad thing is they can pass this "script" on to their children , but not with the "spirit" Jesus intended or the scripture , but with the spirit of alienation, accusation and suspicion and fear . That is Elect's true doctrine . An imaginary one of Us & Them , the saved and unsaved , when humanity is one whole tribe, not separate from any other.
In Mr Elect here , there is revealed Christianity's greatest weakness and flaw with the dependency on just words , and not the experience of --->being near to Christ. And that spirit can occupy any person on the earth , whether he has ever heard of the christian gospels or not .
Elects words are as Shakespear wrote ,
" full of sound and fury , yet signifying nothing "
But so do bawling infants wail with sound and fury incessantly , crying to be fed in their cradles every hour . A very hum-drum run-of-the-mill kind of obsession with religion , that is seen repeated over and over again thru history by the want-to-be holy ones , that has caused so much damage to this world so often ...unfortunately.
Because they know not...and fear that they may have to admit they know not. So everyone else must have to additionally suffer , to suffer them.
Don't worry about "Mr Elect", Haqi ... he means nothing literally , though once in a brief moment or two , we do see a glimmer of hope as he stumbles almost by accident onto a plane of kindness , compassion or empathy for his fellows ...or egality and fraternity ?
... but alas for him these kinds of experiences/epiphanies last only for the briefest nanoseconds of time and are gone into nothingness again.
Heaven is always a long long way off for ones like these...except that heaven was place made up of endless words?
