GD, Several comments: 1. The growth is in units, not prices, since last year. My guess is that prices are down close to 25 pct., so the fabulous "growth" is more than a 5 pct. drop in revenues. 2. The pc market is about 80 million units a year. The term, so what, comes to mind when viewing a market that represents 3-4 pct., at best, of that total. 3. Latin America has been growing faster than other pc markets, ex China, so we could be seeing numbers in dollar terms that are horrendous in other regions, such as Europe and Japan. 4. Compaq has done a good job in this market. 5. Unless intl. national box cos. start lowering prices even more rapidly, the local clomp-'em-together guys are going to eat their lunch, especially in the two fastest growing markets. It is really a commodity business. MB
