Well, they did the same thing in Vietnam and the public was, by and large, fooled by the BS. And bully for the dissemblers! If fooling the public is what it takes, as a matter of the domestic political reality, then so be it. God knows they fooled the public getting us into the thing.

If Bush really does make significant progress, by November, at disengaging us from that swamp I will vote for him again. I don't see any of the Democrats with any realistic, workable solution other than cutting and running. For Bush to pull out of Iraq indicates to me that he has learned his lesson and we're not going to do that again.
