I agree that Dean would have beaten Bush. And Dean was my first choice.

But I also think Kerry will make a strong candidate too. I like Kerry's positions on jobs, health care, the economy, the intelligence failures of the Bush administration, post war Iraq, the environment, civil liberties and more.

Just one year ago, I was shocked at what was happening in America. People were ignoring facts, especially that the intelligence on Iraq was clearly flawed (I am being polite!). Anyone who even mentioned an alternative idea, on Iraq or the economy, was shouted down and called a traitor.

Then an American with great courage rose up "The Emperor has no clothes!" And Howard Dean was right. And more and more Americans rallied to Dean's side. "Give us back our America!" "Live free or Die!"

I heard Dr. Dean speak; he was articulate and focused. He spoke with great vision and still addresses the small details. He was balanced between articulating a positive vision for the future, and exposing the obvious ineptness and mendacity of the Bush Administration.

But, at some point, Dr. Dean stopped talking about the issues and started focusing on how much money he was raising; how many supporters he had on the internet. I think this is what hurt him more than anything.

I admire Dr. Dean. America is in his debt. But we owe it to Howard Dean to take the first step and remove Bush from office.
