here's a drug timeline and some links to the history of George Jung.

It looks like 75 had a large cocaine incident called the "medellin massacre", so cocaine trafficking had already reached critical mass.

The french connection broke up in 72, that was heroin, so it looks like cocaine filled the void from the 72-75 period.
