Duke,
re: I am just guessing as to the market, but of course, if the cost of a 25" plasma tv goes from $3000 to $800, by virtue of Intel's economy of scale, two things happen, both of which are good.
First, the Intel technology isn't plasma, it's projection. So you still need depth for the method, but current sets are getting down to less than 12 inches.
Second, TI has a competing solution, it's DSP (digital signal processing) chip, that's been on the market for ~8 months (?). Samsung and now other are using the chip to (mostly) rave reviews.
So you've got a divided market for large screen TV's; Plasma, LCD and projection. Then you've got a divided market between legacy projections TV's, the TI solution and the Intel solution. To complex for me to guess market size.
On the positive side, as HD programing increases (and the new DVD format kicks off), you could have a huge upgrade cycle, and it looks as if Intel's timing may be perfect for that.
I would be real interested in a cost/performance comparison between the Intel and TI chip.
