In 2001 the government share of health care costs in the US was 45% according to this article:

By now, my estimate is between 47% and 50% -- the number of seniors is increasing rapidly, you know.

And where did you get that I advocate complete government control of health care? A national health care plan could be quickly enacted by simply extending Medicare to all Americans.

PS. By the way I agree with you about the greediest generation. Using a VAT to pay for Medicare for everybody will get them to at least pay a little bit for their benefits.
