Brooks is asking kerry to do exactly what Friedman asked of him last week. And that is to become the inheritor of the Truman, JFK, Scoop Jackson wing of the party. If he can do that in believable fashion but combine it with the left of center domestic policies, he may just win. By the way I heard one economic commentator say this morning that the belief on Wall Street is that the democrats are killing consumer confidence and hurting growth with all their whining about jobs and recession. Even those who are doing well, are feeling guilt rather that happiness at their positive turn of fortune. Mike
