i listened to imus this morning and Doris Kearns Goodwin historian was showing her liberal bias. discussing Bush in national guard "it is hard to believe only one guy came up who saw Bush at meetings" Let me tell you. you go to a unit to make up drills , you get stuck in a room. you do not have the job qualifications to do anything else in a different unit. I cannot understand why these people do not believe a guy reporting to drills in air national guard who is not flying is not with the other guys.. Maybe he goes off days, maybe he reports to one person in the office and he stays there reading manuals because that is all they have for him. He has no reason to mix with other guys if not training with them. It is not a social function. Many arrive just before the drill and leave right after.

Doris "It is hard not to understand he didn't go with some of them for a few beers". amazing thought process. what does she think these people do that attend guards? It sounds like she thinks it is the boys night out. I never went out with the boys after a drill in six years and neither did any of them in my unit(or very few). We all have different lives outside the guard. We tried to maintain that life while serving in the guard. it was not like it was a second lodge or something. I suppose if you were not raising a family, working, going to school etc. you may find time to hang out, but i do not remember anyone hanging out.

I wish she would stick to history.
