Dizzy, in WW11 there were several examples of DEATHS of sons of senators and congressmen. JKFs older brother died in a bomber between Britain and Germany. Other examples of the sons of the rich and powerful who not only served, but served in combat, exist. Don't confuse that war with the following wars, however. Can you name ONE son of a then senator or congressman that did combat duty in Vietnam, much less died there? I can't. In the jungle there were leaches, prickly heat rash, ringworm, bugs to scare small children, snakes and deadly little men waiting in hiding in the jungle growth that would kill you in a heartbeat. What I never saw or even heard of were the sons of the rich and powerful. Why is that? Is there any vet on this board that served in the jungle with anyone with any political pull? I'd like to know if there is. Are you really making the argument that the rich and powerful families have fought and died with the rest of us in the last 40+ years?
