If we want to see Iraq as a true democracy then it will become a nation whose majority power will be Shiite muslim.

Isn't kinda saying that for America to be a true democracy, majority power will need to be held by Christians?

Shiites are Arabs Michael. And the Kurds are primarily Sunnis. So for anyone to advocate that a particular religion or ethnicity must have a certain place in Iraqi society is to ignore the need of finding common ground between these disparate groups.

Didn't I just say the same thing yesterday?!?!?!?

I don't recall seeing it.. But then again, my attention to the overall thread discussion has been rather spotty of late.

I was also labeled a cynic and so were many others when doubts were professed about WMDs and links to Al Qaeda.

Based upon what evidence? Gut feeling?

The reality is that Saddam had his fingers in MANY areas. He attempted to offer Iraqi support to Al-Qaeda, sending his intelligence director to Afghanistan and Somalia, for purposes as yet unknown (or unconfirmed).

And logic suggest that he was smart enough to make sure that there would be no direct ties that could be directly tracked to his regime.

But he CERTAINLY had motive and interest in providing whatever support he could (within the bounds of deniability) in order to attack the US.

So the truth is that there was NO WAY you could know what his true activities were with Al-Qaeda.

Just as there was NO WAY you could know he wasn't in the process of actively producing WMDs..

That kind of information can only be gleaned post-facto by studying the documents of the Iraqi government..

And that process continues and will for at least the next year..
