You are right with the 1st part, but not with the 2nd. They conflict with each other, and you should see that. If it is "about to happen" it is imminent. Your definition seems to be that it MIGHT be about to happen, which is not accurate.

Show the part of the law that allows what you say (a law on the books that says you can hold someone without proof, without a lawyer and without a time limit). Apply it to a legal U.S. citizen also. It's worth discussing, but I think you are just going with the demo scare tactics.

We are. By taking out a rogue dictatorship and letting some of the same freedoms we have here (and that you and I enjoy) take root over there, and example will be set that people of any race, religion or background can prosper when given the chance. Under the systems they have in the middle east, none have this opportunity. Many say (like you seem to), give them more time, they will be fine. But in light of the attack of 9-11-01 we cannot afford to allow that time. As President Bush so eloquently said (paraphrased), trusting Saddam Hussein is not a strategy. |
