I guess Fitzgerald isn't counting all the new fabs being
constructed and ordering equipment this year and next. He
also seems to be dismissing existing fabs that have focused
on making excellent profits over the last 9 months and
now have extra capital to justify purchasing equipment
upgrades. I'm still expecting the stock price to steadily
increase after tomorrow's earnings. The stock price has been
very volatile over the last month on relatively low volume of around
20M shares a day (relative to about a 28M daily average).
Primarily this appears to be day trading activity, considering
that there are 1.66B shares in the float.
In any case, I'm believing that Fitz is talking down the
stock (maybe B of A has taken short positions) but will reverse and recommend a buy in March/April.
Friday is options expiry so more volatility in the stock
price and markets is expected this week. BB
