My view has always been that the sole reason for invading Iraq was to establish formidable, permanent military bases in the middle east. Whether that is a justifiable reason is debatable.

I look upon it as the top group realizing we had two things that had to be done after 911. Kill the Alligators and drain the swamp. We are doing both. Setting up permanent bases in the ME is part of the "drain the swamp."
