I consider going to war on weak data a lapse of judgement.

I don't think the data was so obviously weak at the time. If the level of uncertainty that existed makes it "weak" then the majority of intel is weak. Also I said the war wasn't a lapse of judgment. There where other reasons for the war besides WMD even if that was the one that was must trumpeted. I did say and still agree that the statements about WMD might have shown a lapse of judgment but I think they just show that the people making the decision had incorrect information.

I said to you before......recently they released intel data that had been classified. It contrasted considerably with the data that was provided to the public prior to the war. The classified data was much more cautious about the possibility of WMD. The administration chose to ignore that data. I consider that to be a lapse of judgement.

In 1979, there was a major revolution Iran; then the hostage crisis. The country was in turmoil for at least 2-3 years. To suggest that Iran was getting ready to attack Iraq is laughable.

In 1979 it would have been questionable. In the 80s before the war ended it was not. At times it seemed as if Iraq might collapse in the fight against Iran. Iraq never did collapse but the fear was not unreasonable.

Yes, but we supported Saddam in his fight with Iran right from 1980. There was nothing good about what we were doing over there. Why we think that we can support someone like Saddam and then turn around and pretend we're the good guys is beyond me.
