Who else can better articulate the horrors of war than one who has personally experienced one, who has personally saved lives of fellow soldiers, whose family personally experienced the anxieties of war while their loved one was away at war. How can the Bushies criticize one who has been to war, who after "honorably nay heroically discharged" his duty to the country, came back and fought for his fellow soldiers to save them from the horrors of a war that we did not have a reason to be there in the first place. Lt. John Kerry. A man of reason, a man of conviction. Someone who stands up to his beliefs, one who can claim to form opinions from personal experiences. Hanoi Jane may have had her reasons to oppose Vietnam. Wonder what the reasons were for someone from the celluloid industry. But it is easy to see why Lt. Kerry, who had the personal experiences of the horrors of war would come back and advocate causes near and dear to his fellow combatants he left behind in the jungles of Vietnam. He did not abandon his colleagues when he was with them in Vietnam. He did not abandon them when he returned to comfort in the US.
