It is Bush's record that is in question since he is coming back to the American public to ask for 4 more years. In the past 3 years, he has ordered the Guards into Iraq. The families of the Guard have a right to ask him what moral authority he has to order their near and dear one to a combat zone when he did not do so and did not even report to the Guard service. A very legitimate question from the families especially when it is a life and death question for their near and dear ones.

It also serves as a pattern of behavior on his part where he does not take things seriously. The WMDis a case in point, his alcoholism is another one etc. It is a pattern. You can start 30 years ago or you could take his midlife crisis (alcoholism) or during his tenure as President. Take your pick and compare it to that of Kerry.
