JDN, one of the posters here posted that the top 1% of income earners make 43% of income in this country. If that's the case you'd have to take another look at what a 100% tax on their income would do. g.

I could certainly agree to a flat tax that exempted the very needy. I would prefer a slightly progressive tax but the problem is that those at the top of the scale have always been able to turn it regressive at the top. A flat rate is better than that.

We need to have real controls over spending. We need to shine the light on practices which allow special interest to affix their pork on spending bills. We need to allow line item vetoes so that the President can be held accountable for pork. We need true spending limits. There are a lot of things we need and maybe the latest, greatest political theme of "two Americas" will start shining that light.
