Problem: Pop Up infection

yeah yeah yeah, I know it has been discussed here before, and I have tried the things that I found to be relevant.

Other info:

I run spybot on the computer daily and it does not detect whatever was planted on my computer to open the door for the popups.

Popups only start after IE is launched (using windows XP)

Running the goggle popup stopper, but it has no noticeable deterrent affect.

Tried a couple of other popup stoppers that didn't work at all.

McAfee VirusScan just now detected a potentially unwanted program. c:\windows\system32\kbdftc.dll (downloader-HF, Adware-BHO.gen)

I have tried to delete the file, but it is write protected.

Any ideas on how to kill the kbdftc.dll file and/or even more effective popup cleansers?
