Huh? If I could expense a building off in one year, I would build it now! What a gift! I may be confused at what you are trying to say... are you saying that there should be an expense entry for one reason, and no recognition of the expense for tax purposes? How exactly does this work from an accounting standpoint?

I am convinced that one simple change the tax code wrt capitalization of these huge offshore expenditures (in other words make the companies building these facilities expense the entire thing up front with no favorable tax treatment if it is offshore)- would fix a TON right there.
