Hi Nadine

"Where can anyone discuss realistic alternatives to handle France's anti-Americanism and dreams of EU glory?"

The word "Handle" says it all to me.
How about "Understand why there is a strong anti-Americanism ... etc."

You cannot handle anybody's dreams of glory or of a much fairer global civil society (a dream that many of us Europeans have), by nature they are flying thoughts that travel above all sorts of blocks of what we call American unilateralist.

Let me give you an example: If I hear or read one more time that the President of the USA is the leader of the Free World, excuse me, but I’ll up throw up. The language used to communicate certain concepts, together with the concept itself, always transports a good hint of inner attitudes of a person or of a people.

I am a citizen of the free world (if we can even call it that) and I have never been asked to vote for a “President of the Free World”.

This type of self-proclamation, as well as the use of self-importance language such as “handling our dreams” is certainly not helping in diminishing our view that the USA has a very arrogant attitude toward foreign policies, other countries, and other peoples.

Respectfully

Annamaria
