H.J. Heinz Co. of Pittsburgh, operates 22 factories in the United States and 57 in foreign countries. I am not a fan of Kerry. But you just don't know anything about business. Outsourcing where you can get the same labor here is sending jobs overseas. Companies do not have to send these jobs abroad. Ketchup/food factories outside the US are just economic necessity. Factories have to be close where the food source is in order to maintain freshness and avoid spoilage. You are dealing with perishable items. When they have been processed, they are pasteurized and preserved. Shipping materials in raw stage like vegetables, fruits etc is not good business practice: bulky, spoilage, perishable, prone to infection etc. So, don't just attck HJ Heinz. Senator Heinz was a good man, he did a lot for Pennsylvania, and I am proud of him. Too bad his life was short. Look into your pantry: Is that not Heinze ketchup bottle, and don't you like it? You don't have to hate the ketchup or the company simply because you don't like Kerry.
