Thanks, Mephisto. Welcome to the forum. I'm convinced Howard Dean will eventually throw his support behind Edwards. If it's possible, he should direct his delegates to support Edwards as well.
Those of us who realize Edwards has the most potential to beat GW Bush, need to get behind him in every way possible. The insider WashDC Democrats are pushing Kerry because many of them are currently congressional lobbyists & they know that lobbyists would not be an endangered species during a Kerry Adm. Edwards has not been in congress long enough to be bought & sold by lobbyist campaign donations. He favors campaign reform which is exactly what the country needs in order to put power back into the hands of American workers. He also realizes the primary concern for average citizens this election is the rampant job outsourcing hitting every sector of the workforce. I received this today from John Edwards campaign:
Dear supporters,
Thank you for your new involvement in my campaign.
I'm writing to you today from the campaign trail in Atlanta, where the focus of my conversations with voters is on jobs. So many of the people I talk with have friends and family members who have lost their jobs recently. Some of the folks I've met in the last few days have lost their own jobs.
I see what this economy really looks like. And so do you. Together, we can bring about real change. I need your support to bring my plan to the American people.
George W. Bush says he plans to create 2.6 million jobs this year. Do you believe him? After all, his track record so far is all about job loss -- not job creation. During his term, 2.3 million workers have lost their jobs. And now he suddenly thinks he can add what would amount to 226,000 jobs per month. Really? Under this president, it's just not happening in America.
In order to add jobs, we need to close the tax loopholes that make it attractive for U.S. companies to move work offshore. In fact, we need to add tax incentives for companies willing to open new businesses and add jobs right here in this country. George W. Bush will never do that, but I will.
We have got to create jobs here - not just because people need a paycheck, but because people deserve the dignity and self-respect that comes from working. With your help, I will make real changes in this country that will result in a more fair tax system and a better quality of life for all Americans.
Your support has been tremendous so far. But this race is far from over, and any contribution you can make today will make a real difference in our ability to spread the word and show voters why I am the best candidate to beat George W. Bush. Please give $25, $50 or $100 today. Together, we'll get this country working again!
Sincerely,
John Edwards
