not really JakeStraw because corp profits are higher than ever.

Did you notice the HP call? They are seeing a 1-2% growth in their business in this "boom" <wink wink>. HPs growth rate is lower than the dollar depreciation. This is not a recovery. This liquidity driven event that Bush has created has simply hollowed out the economy and created a mentality that it is ok for the entire US economy to act as one giant B2B exchange with no core strengths. Companies are even offshoring core IP that US taxpayers paid for dearly, in order to shave 1% off the expense side of the balance sheet for one quarter.

Supply side theory doesn't work here. We need a demand driven economy. I don't care if things cost $2 more at walmart if it means US BUYING POWER gets cut in half due to no jobs. BTW Bush has been awful as an economic president just like his father. No plans or strategy. If they really believe offshoring is a "good thing" they would know that means the healthcare crisis is an immediate need, for one thing.
