Couldn't you hear it in Greenspan's voice? "Somebody, some entreprenuer, please, please, think of something and save our bacon like computers and the internet did in the late 80's and 90's." Don't you remember Reagan was running deficits like there was no tomorrow and lowering taxes and encouraging free global trade. As it happened Steve Jobs, Gates and a few others brought us out of the chasm. Now our only hope is another "hail Mary, Franco Harris" touchdown pass. What will it be? There are only a couple of things it could be. An anti-gravity machine would shake up the world and create a "new u.s. economy." More likely the only hope is some kind of fuel cell or other type of amazing energy machine that eliminates the need for oil. Someone discovers that and we have a "new economy" and we pull back from the brink once again. IMO that is what our friend Mr. Greenspan was pleading for in his call for entrepreneurship.
