Hero or a Zero? The jury is out!
Sure you can but look at this man the way you want, although greed had totally blinded him. It is a very famous injunction which is attributed to 'God' which claims that 'with fire we test gold and with gold we test people.' That is the gold test that I going to talk about analyzing his character as a national hero!
He had everything going for him but the guy sold out for sake of gold, national heroes help nations without selling the national assets of their own assets for gold this is a primary test he failed on it, the zillions found in his banks accounts provided by Ghaddafi and documents provided by Iran and Libya stunned him, he never thought that Umah or nations of Islam will snitch him so badly, but post Iraq and 911 dynamic politics nuclear proliferation little do people realize is the biggest victim and rightly so, the sword hanging over peoples head has been taken out by serious and long work that has caught the scientists at the heart of these proliferation network.
Much as I appreciate that he helped making us stand on our two feet as independent country but with nuclear weapons comes a global responsibility, deterrence is one thing but flouting of global responsibility another, do you know what could been the consequences of this. Are we keep going to dangle out assets in face go global community, rest assure no one takes this blackmail any seriously they will call out bluff and I see a future where we would defanged, our most important test is test of responsibility and being a member of global community with distinction that is due on us as a result of nuclear programmed weaponries at very sophisticated level. Nations cannot eat nuclear bombs they do implode if economy fails like USSR so our fate hangs in balance as we are called upon to be responsible.
My opinion is little different, traitors deserve electric chair not praises, for me he is traitor of lowest kind as I expect from heroes far bigger responsible attitude than a petty thief or a greedy man, heroes need to win that war within that fails most of us that is the real test of heroes, when we cal Mr. Gandhi a hero of non violence he stood tall, many may get upset about the comparison but the fact is he abhorred material possessions as demi God of India he died with no assets but the nation loves him and dotes on him that is heroism , Indians garlanded and made Abu Kalam a Muslim their President for great advancement he brought to their nuclear programmes what, because Abu Kalam had no assets the nation went all out to give him the credit he richly deserved, Pakistanis fail to see whyt today Qadeer is vilified and his counter part Kalam the head of India state, it is all about that ‘Gold test, Qadeer failed Kalam passed with flying colors.
He had put the future of entire Pakistani nation at stake, imagine we being declared as rogue nation, I live here and see abject poverty, I see children dying of lack of medicine, kids out on street with no future, our human development indicators are poor and comparable to Afghanistan and Chad, amidst all this we all make our little efforts, one face of the society lives with luxury that one cannot dream in west the other creeps on meager existence, Qadeer exploited his position he was an arms trader and merchant of death, to export mars and nuclear arms for money is a crime of highest order, my opinion would be different if he was motivate by ideology since ideological motivation can produced some heroes like Khomeini who may have opinions that I don’t share but have respect of their own nations, we are not going to judge ideological motivations here that is a subject of a deeper philosophical debate and needs new avenues. However when a hero sells out for a few dollars than he becomes a zero, the following report will show that amply.
The former head of Pakistan's nuclear programme, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, sent enriched uranium to Libya in 2001 and sold nuclear centrifuge parts to Iran in the mid-1990s, Malaysian police said on Friday.
Buhary Syed Abu Tahir, 44, named by the United States as a middleman in an international nuclear trafficking ring, claimed Dr Khan asked him to send centrifuges to Iran in 1994 or 1995, according to police.
Two containers of used centrifuge units were shipped from Pakistan to Iran via Dubai and were paid for with about three million dollars in cash and kept in an apartment used by Dr Khan each time he visited Dubai, Abu Tahir told police.
Mr Tahir said Dr Khan told him that a "certain amount of UF6 (enriched uranium) was sent by air from Pakistan to Libya" in around 2001, according to police.
The latest revelations in the scandal were made in a 12-page police report on investigations into Malaysia's alleged link in the nuclear weapons black market and the role of Abu Tahir, a Sri Lankan businessman married to a Malaysian.
The probe was launched after US and British intelligence services told Malaysia that centrifuge parts manufactured by a local company had been found on a ship bound for Libya last October.
The Malaysian company, Scomi Precision Engineering (Scope), admitted making the parts but said it did not know their final destination and believed they were for the oil and gas industries.
The company is owned by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's son Kamaluddin, and Malaysia has strenuously denied that either the company or the country was knowingly involved in the nuclear arms black market.
The police report clears Malaysia and the company and recommends that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should launch investigations into "several individuals from Europe allegedly involved in the proliferation of nuclear weapons".
According to the report, Abu Tahir and Dr Khan met Libyan representatives named as Mohamad Matuq Mohamad and Karim in Istanbul in 1997 when the Libyans asked for centrifuge units. Between 1998 and 2002 several more meetings were held, one in Casablanca and others in Dubai.
The enriched uranium was sent from Pakistan to Libya by air around 2001, and "a certain number of centrifuge units were sent in 2001-2002". The report claims that Dr Khan developed a "network of middlemen" that involved not only Tahir, but "several people and companies from Europe seeking to make profits by selling certain materials and equipment."
The report made no mention of whether any action would be taken against Mr Tahir and a police spokesman contacted by AFP refused to comment.
EUROPEAN MIDDLEMEN: Citizens of German, Turkey, Britain and Switzerland were named in the Malaysian police report as alleged middlemen involved in the nuclear arms black market.
Police say the information in the report was provided by B.S.A.Tahir, who has admitted selling nuclear secrets. The investigation was launched to probe allegations that a Malaysian company owned by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's son manufactured centrifuge parts for Libya's nuclear weapons uranium enrichment programme.
The report clears the company, Scomi Precision Engineering (SCOPE), saying Tahir never told the truth about the nature of the parts he ordered and the company thought it was involved in a legitimate business. But the document concludes with a call on the IAEA to "start investigations on several individuals from Europe allegedly involved in the proliferation of nuclear weapons". -AFP |
