josh, In the general area of Tampa, some subdivisions that have houses near canals, or small lakes, have a set of new residents. The are a bird that has a screeching call that continues all night, and keeps the people awake. The name of the bird starts with Limp...., but I can't remember all of the name.
All that leads up to a story my wife told about her Grandmother in Oregon. She still lived in, what amounted to, a wilderness. One night there was an owl that kept hooting away, and keeping the old lady awake. Finally, she got up, muttering some choice words, stuck her shot gun out the bedroom window, blew it away, and went back to bed with a smile on her face. Good thing, for her, that PETA wasn't around in those days. |
