It is not clear that they are born that way. The most widely touted study, which has come under fire methodologically, at best establishes a 50% genetic component to homosexuality. What is clear is that, whatever the genesis of sexual orientation, it appears to be fixed in most people before puberty, and impossible, in most cases, to change. Of course, there is a class of people who are bisexual in impulse who may be influenced by culture, but, for the most part, sexual orientation is not chosen.
