I should also mention, that the older and wiser I get, the more I am becoming VERY suspect of the entire biotech/drug field. If you look at this diet for example... it's as plain as the nose on anyone's face that THIS is perhaps the most important area to focus on in regards to health today. Yet some of the biggest projects in drug discovery are designed specifically to avoid [or ignore] the entire issue or worse, actually use the issue as a reason to develope a pill that will sell [obesity]. Think of the value of genomics capability, for example, in ferreting out food related problems based on gene markers... very exciting. Of course there's no money in it in the conventional sense.

In a way it has become one massive example of the madness of crowds written about with regard to stock market bubbles. No one is questioning the basis, everyone is 2 to 3 levels removed focusing on cause and effect data there. Fighting our genes, rather than looking at them and working with them. The diet is probably a 'given' in all these obesity trials... and it's [diet] in reality is not only a moving target, but an important factor in the problem itself. Just pissing away money IMO.

Brain disorders like demensia, Alzheimers, schiz, ADHD, ADD, Autism, etc. are another one. There is plenty of speculation and anecdotal evidence about diet, digestive problems [Repligen's candidate], etc... but has there been any real effort to compare diets against disease and genetic markers? No money in it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the fact that nothing has been done so much as simply making the observation AND warning against investing in projects where this would make sense and yet is ignored by the drug company. Financially dangerous IMO.
