Support for President Bush's Campaign Continues to Build 71,000 GRASSROOTS SUPPORTERS CONTRIBUTE AN AVERAGE $175 IN JANUARY
Arlington, Virginia – Bush-Cheney ’04 today announced that grassroots momentum for the President’s re-election continues to build with 71,000 supporters in January, 2004. Last month, 50,000 Americans made their first ever contribution to a campaign for President Bush.
“Grassroots excitement for President Bush’s steady leadership is building and the largest grassroots campaign in America is ready for the tough election ahead,” said Ken Mehlman, Bush-Cheney ’04 Campaign Manager. “The 50,000 new contributors in January continue the strong and growing support for the President that we saw in 2003.”
In January, Bush-Cheney ’04 raised $12.8 million from 71,000 contributors and added 50,000 new donors. The average contribution in January was $175. Through January 31, 2004, Bush-Cheney ’04 has nearly 550,000 contributors representing every state and county in the country. Bush-Cheney ’04, Inc. filed its January report with the Federal Election Commission today.
Each week Bush-Cheney ’04 updates its Web site at www.GeorgeWBush.com/Donors/ with the names of individuals who have contributed to the President’s campaign. This disclosure is not required by law for those who have contributed less than $200. The Web site also lists volunteer fundraisers who have reached Maverick, Pioneer and Ranger status. |
