The 1991 war was not a war to stave off external threat to the US. It was a treat that Kuwait faced from Iraq. Something of concern to a world body such as the UN and the UN forces.

The current war was sold by the Administration as a external threat to the US. It was sold as Sadam, a wicked person, is harboring groups who are coming into the US to kill our people and fight with our agents in the streets and alley ways of the US. It was sold as US's war and hence received the near unanimous support (except one US Rep Barbara Lee). Kerry was part of that support.

When it became apparent that Bush had lied about the Saddam threat, Kerry voted not to approve the 87 Billion dollar.

Kerry's aggressive debating style is something I am waiting for. He will tear Bush apart during the debate laying to rest all the spin and lies that Bush can buy with the 140 million dollars.
