I voted for Clark in the primary in Michigan. I will support either Kerry or Edwards as the nominee.
They both have similar views, and I vote for the majority of the issues - not really for the candidate, although that is some consideration.
If you vote for the candidate, surely you cannot tell me that you are more comfortable with Bush until January 2009 than Kerry? I find that hard to believe, if you did vote for JFK.
Democrats are sometimes too idealistic, and ignore little things like economics, etc. - i.e. facts - but the Republican party has moved far to the right since Nixon.
Nixon would likely be either a very liberal Republican today, or a moderate Democrat. He started the EPA - hated by most on the right now. He was for a guaranteed minimum income - that I am all for now - it would replace and consolidate many other programs - eliminate waste - and provide more money to those that need assistance because of unemployment, disability, etc.
The turn to the right since Reagan has really turned me off to them. I initially agreed with Reagan on foreign policy to contain the Soviet Union, protect Europe, and on certain economic issues. But - the Reagan policies were a complete failure on the economic side. Huge deficits - over triple what Carter had - just as Reagan's economic advisor David Stockman predicted.
We are on the same path now - multiplied by 3 probably. To me, Bush is a disaster, that cries out to be replaced. |
