Just came across a piece in today's NYT about Gibson.

Here's an excerpted Gibson quote that relates to the claim made here that an historical analysis of what actually must have happened is irrelevant to Gibson's film.

"I don't think other films have tapped into the real force of this story. They're either historically inaccurate (bolding mine) or suffer from bad music or bad hair."

Further proof that he's claiming historical accuracy -- is a ridiculous and insupportable claim.

Here's another quote, just incidentally, and not on the question of "the relevance of an historical analysis of what actually must have happened."

On the Holocaust, he said, "Yes, of course. Atrocities happened. War is horrible. The Second World War killed thens of millions of people. Some of them were Jews in concentration camps."
