"Traditionalists" has a special meaning in this context. It's not just Latin mass and Gregorian chants vs. English and guitars.

There is a belief that Vatican II was not just wrong but that the Roman Catholic Church has been hijacked by apostates, heretics, and Satan, that the Pope isn't really the Pope, that we are living in End Times and the Pope is an anti-Pope, and the Church is really an anti-Church, stuff like that.

Calling themselves "Traditionalists" is just another example of rhetorical jiu-jitsu -- it seems so benign. Who could object to saying the Mass in Latin once in a while, just for old times' sake? And in fact, it's OK to hear what the Church calls an "Indult" mass if no Novus Ordo mass is available, but not otherwise.

Ask Hutton Gibson what he thinks about Novus Ordo Missae and I bet your ears will burn. ;^)

To me, it's as wacky as the theories about the Federal Reserve and "the Jews" - but of course, that's my opinion, I could be wrong. I have no reason to think that Mel Gibson subscribes to this -- except for his church. He's put millions into that church. I hope it's so he doesn't get molested and distracted at worship by his fans.
