actually i think it makes total sense to wait until 'the last minute' (if you call 9 months last minute) to run for a third party candidate with nader's name recognition...

my opinion would be the window of opportunity for fund raising would be smaller and more dynamic for such and the potential of losing any momentum early a much greater potential problem than slogging it out for the interminable 2 years devoted to by the dominant parties

he has been down the road before,....i daresay he has more name recognition than any of the dem candidates until very recently.

why would a third party candidate spend precious funds and air time "early"?

indeed if he only gets his "15 minutes" when he announces, i would say he's jumped into the race too soon

(if he throws his support to the "D+ party" at the last minute, then i would say his motives were abundantly clear)
