Trotsky had a post on kitco about the possibility of oil from sands in Canada. To say he was bearish was an understatement. His main objection were, you would need to use 20%(and even that I think he saw as a conservative estimate) of all of Canada's natural gas, to extract the oil, and in his figuring, all of the extractable oil would be equal to nort american demand in 1 year.
