well, the theoretical extractable amount is huge, but the bottlenecks are the NG for water boiling, and the pollution. also, extraction is slow since mining is required instead of pumping. it is questionable what the net energy extracted is, once you subtract the NG, the energy consumed by mining (and in making mining equipment), and whatever environmental handling there is.

long term, they'd probably have to build nuclear power plans just for extraction purposes.
