Kerry is the overwhelming first choice of Dems, and for damn good reasons. The Bushies are pushing Edwards a bit because he doesn't have a Silver Star and cannot expose Bush as a phony military leader. Kerry can and already has. Since Bush was planning to run against Dean on being "the war president", Kerry foils the RNC completely. Now all they can do is try and run a negative campaign, slur a war hero's name, distort his record and try and associate him with things like gay marriage and Jane Fonda which Kerry doesn't even support. The Bushies have tons of money but still aren't sure how to use it. Problem for them is that they MUST spend it before the convention. Therefore, they'll be throwing everything against the wall against Kerry hoping something sticks. But it won't. Kerry has more teflon than Ronand Reagan. You'll see. He's also a fierce fighter with credibility. Finally, he's a closer. Bush will be lucky to get 45% no matter how much money he spends.
And Edwards may be the VP and help Kerry reap rural white male voters while Kerry helps himself to veterans.
