Bill,
I am watching some of the footage played on the air and it is extremely bloody and almost surreal in nature. Talking about kids viewing this, the footage i have seen reminds me more of a video game or a film by Quentin Tarrantino. We should focus more on how Jesus lived and not so much the horror of his death. Our culture is inundated with scenes of violence and death, both real and made for TV. All we need now is the lawyers rushing in to defend the killers. "They were depraved on accouna they were deprived." (officer krupke, west side story) Inmho this is probably the last thing the Jesus of the scriptures would want as his legacy because the violence twists what he was all about, whether one accepts him as God or a great man. This movie may have less to do with the jews or romans and more to say about Christians who promote this story over all the other good things Jesus was involved with in his life.
By the way i am an equal opportunity critic. I never quite understood the glorification of God in the Passover story for playing the role of terrorist and killing the first born of the egyptians. Mike
