The avian virus is just one flight away

This is certainly true. On the other hand, I've already started seeing the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" syndrome. People were told that SARS could sweep the globe last year. Then they were told it could come back this winter. Then they were told that H5N1 could be the next pandemic. Then we get bombarded with news of every new bird flu that has struck. People don't know how to assimilate these stories and so they just tune it out as the latest scare.
