Everything was in the context of lighting

The context of your reply was the total monthly energy bill. It was how much changing the lighting would reduce that bill so yes everyone was talking about lighting but only as part of a larger context.

If you want to reply I will probably let you have the last word because I really think this is becoming a waste of time for both of us, and I don't have anything against florescent bulbs I use some of them myself. So instead of a conversation about a subject we are having a conversation about who said what when. I don't know about you but I get bored of such conversations easily. On the substantive issue I think that florescent lights can often pay for themselves well before they burn out, at least if you don't turn the lights on and off all the time.
