4:17PM (Feb. 24, 2004) Portal Software beats by $0.03, ex items, guides Q1 in line (PRSF) 7.40 +0.39: Reports Q4 (Jan) pro forma net loss of $0.15 per diluted share, excluding amortization and write-off of acquisition-related costs of $0.7 mln and stock option compensation credit of approx $19.2 mln, $0.03 better than the Reuters Research consensus of ($0.18); revenues rose 18.6% year/year to $36.8 mln vs the $31.5 mln consensus. Co also guides Q1, sees pro forma loss of $0.10-0.15, vs the R.R. consensus of ($0.14), and revenues of $30-35 mln, vs an estimate of $32.5 mln. 4:15PM PRSF prelim -$0.15, 3 cents ahead :
