but the ones that are connected with the major multinationals (the topic of most of the whining that goes on here) do it that way.

Untrue, because the majority of multinationals use indian consulting vendors which dictate their own wage and benefits package. Satyam for example works on Saturday. Only a small number of US multinationals have set up their own facilities offshore. The issue with those is more around the IP giveaway, funded by taxpayers. Anyway all of this will soon be a bad memory along with Dubya.
