The left in general likes to think of themselves as more tolerant then the right but often they are just tolerant of different things.

The religious left in particular is probably more often then not more tolerant then the religious right but they have there own things that they are intolerant of which frequently includes the religious right or the right in general. Also I think the religious right gets a bit of a bum rap on intolerance. Its not that the religious right is very tolerant but that it's reputation for intolerance is so great that its hard to live up to. I think part of the reason why this is so is that the things that the the religious right is intolerant of are the left's hot button tolerance issues.
