To all: Well, I went and did it. Actually made a change to the production version of the site. And it won't be the last time. Another change is planned shortly (1-2 weeks). In the middle column of the homepage, the "Top Boards" or whatever it was called has been replaced by a "Hot Investment Message Boards" that ranks only boards that aren't in the Coffee Shop based on their posting volume over the last 3 days. It's almost but not quite realtime. It's being accomplished by a call to routines on the development server and recalculated in realtime, but the data can be a minute or two stale. But accurate within those confines. The Dev system has been running a process for weeks that keeps its message table nearly synched up with the one here. By "nearly", I mean that it makes sure it always has all but the most recent 200 messages, to make sure I'm not importing messages that might still be getting edited. The synch process fires itself off every 5 minutes. So, if you want to see your market-related board listed on the homepage, pretty easy to accomplish. Just post on it. The more posts, the higher the ranking.
