AS, what are the corporate implications of dividends if you know? Are dividends deducted from earnings for tax purposes?

So, what is the combined tax rate for a successful company that pays dividends and the individual for that portion?

If the individual is going to be taxed at a higher rate, will the company get to treat it as an expense to avoid a greater double taxation?

Please explain your postion.
