No, that is not what I had in mind. I don't find "picking up ideas from the environment" a "plausible alternative" if the idea is racist. What I had in mind was making thoughtful observations, something along the lines of social scientists correlating reduced job success among blacks to kids being raised in communities full of welfare mothers and absent fathers, which leaves them without successful role models. Black advocates might call that racist. I wouldn't. It may tie in with the "shiftless" theme, but it it has a rational basis, which is a plausible alternative explanation.
