Re: What's the difference between West African oil and Iraqi oil?

1) Proven Reserves.

Iraq..............112 Billion Barrels

West Africa....34 Billion Barrels

2) Lifting Cost.

Three times more oil in Iraq at an average lifting cost of $1.50 p/bbl. West African pumping costs significantly higher.

3) API specific gravity.

Iraqi oil is light, sweet crude and highly desirable as a refinery feedstock. West African oil is more variable and generally sells as a discount to the prized Iraqi crude.
