Thank you, Amy. FYI, I've been a member since '96. There is a link to my "member" profile in my "admin" profile.
Bob is doing quite well. He is in the process of rewriting the SI user interface to add new features and improve system stability. I took on the Admin role so Bob could focus his attention on that effort. Anyone who is interested in watching and/or participating in the New Interface development thread is invited to join in at #reply-19722685.
>>Will you also include people in your sight that are personally attacking posters that discuss stocks?
Yes, but that is a rather inexact science. Suffice it to say that attacks on the messenger will be held to a higher level of Terms of Use enforcement than will be attacks on the message. Similarly, TOU enforcement will be more actively applied on investment threads than on Coffee Shop threads. That is one of the reasons I've been moving threads to more appropriate forums and renaming them in some cases. I have probably moved/changed nearly a thousand threads already... there's about another 40,000 yet to be reviewed!
>>...this would require attention to monitoring personal attacks, and possibly the occasional friendly reminder for all of us to stay on topic.
As I said in an earlier post, I can't "moderate" threads. However, I can assist by responding to TOU violation reports and other user requests. We are collectively much more likely to be successful on moderated threads where the thread moderator is the "front line" in defining the thread's mandate and fairly excluding members who refuse to abide with reasonable standards.
>>Which threads are your top priorities?
Investment threads, followed by non-political/non-religious oriented threads which cover other topics of general interest. Politics and religion by their very nature can become personalized and overly contentious, and it will be largely up to thread moderators to control member conduct in those forums. However, that's not to say that the TOU will not be enforced in egregious violations such as spam, disclosure of personal information, extreme vulgarity and personal attacks, etc.
