With all the media coverage, it undoubtedly will see huge volume numbers on Monday, but there are *no products* behind this company.
If you remove all the pomp and bluster from these articles, the only thing that's been done is that they copied the tail end of a chromosome. That in itself is a complete marvel, the steps necessary to take it further to the point that it is a cure for cancer or immortality are something like 5 trillion to one, and based on this report they are maybe 4 trillion to one, it's a good step.
Scientists have been playing with this stuff for a long time. One interesting thing that was done like this is the well known Growth Hormone from about 8 years back. They found a way to reproduce Organs by growing the tissues.
You know what the problem with this was? The tissues turned into amorphous deformed genetically deteriotated clumps of cells. Chromosomes got messed up, and it was a huge topic, then it was obvious it was not a useful thing.
The company can't deliver any product based on this information for a long time. It is exciting to think about the implications, but it is fiction for 5-10 years minimum (not including FDA approval :) ).
I will re-iterate, as the business week article implied:
THE RISK FACTOR FOR BUYING THIS STOCK AT THESE LEVELS IS STAGGERING!
A lot of innocent, good intentioned, people are going to get hurt on this one. Will it go up on Monday? Undoubtedly. When it hits the top of all the "Slow Buys", Buying Volume will decrease, and then you know what happens?
